Friary Shoes

Slippers….. the best heating for your feet!

Slippers…..instant warmth for our feet. When you get home from work nothing beats getting changed into your comfy clothes and putting on your well worn slippers. I tend to wear my slippers all year round, some people will just wear theirs in the winter, and there are actually some people who don’t actually own a pair of slippers.

At Friary Shoes we stock slippers all year round. However during March through to September our stock is rather limited. For the people who love slippers we often get asked why don’t we have as big a selection in the summer months, the simple answer is ‘supply and demand’.

During the run up to Christmas, slipper sales go through the roof. There are two main reasons for this …. the change in temperature and also slippers make ideally Christmas presents. During the warmer months of the year some people choose to move away from the warmth of their slippers and change their indoor footwear to a pair of flip-flops or mule type sandals. Therefore we don't see as great a demand for slippers and so we reduce our stock to reflect this. During the Spring and Summer months suppliers also limit their slipper ranges they produce which means we don’t have as much choice to buy so again it reduces what we can buy.

As we enter the Autumn and Winter months we can all feel that the temperatures have dropped and it will get even colder as we head towards Christmas. Our family like most families are worried about the current energy crisis that we face and with rising costs we are all looking of ways to save costs. Keeping warm at home is a must. We can all read the tips about keeping your home warm at a steady temperature, layering up your clothes and you can’t beat a good old fashioned hot water bottle.

When it comes to your feet it is really important you look after them, we really do rely on them. As you were layers on the rest of your body you should also adopt this with your feet. Wear a pair of socks around the house during colder months along with a warm pair of slippers.

Nowadays there is such a choice in slippers, from slipper booties, warm lined, leather lined to mule styles. For anyone who struggles getting their footwear on and off you can even find styles with Velcro straps which are adjustable to make life easy.

At Friary Shoes we want to make buying slippers easy. We have a huge selection. We want to show you our current top selling slippers, however with over 30 styles in both ladies and men's slippers there will be something to suit everyone, to help keep your feet warm this winter.
